What to expect

Know what you're paying for before you commit

A clear fee process lets you decide with the same confidence you expect from the legal advice. The consultation, any defined project and any ongoing advisory arrangement are treated as separate decisions.

1. Focused consultation

The 30-minute first meeting is used to understand the matter, identify the immediate legal questions and agree the most useful next step.

2. Scope and fee quote

If further work is suitable, you receive a defined scope, deliverables and fee before that work begins.

If the agreed scope changes, any resulting fee change is discussed and agreed before additional work begins.

The legal fee charged is as per the applicable Advocates Remuneration Order.

3. Engagement

Formal legal advice and further work begin only after conflict checks are complete and the scope, deliverables, fee and engagement terms are agreed.

What the first meeting should clarify

  • the immediate decision, deadline or legal question;
  • whether Gallant is the right fit and whether conflict checks are needed;
  • the documents or information required next;
  • whether the next step is one-off advice, a defined project or ongoing advisory; and
  • how any further scope, deliverables and fee will be confirmed.
Fractional General Counsel

Choose the level of legal involvement the decision requires

Fractional General Counsel is not one fixed package. Gallant scopes the relationship around the decisions, documents and operating rhythm that need senior legal judgment.
